CONGREGATIONAL WORSHIPBOOK

Picture
by Henry David Gray, Ph.D., D.Litt., D.D.

This worshipbook is prepared for use in the Sunday and Special Services of the Churches. It is intended to encourage simplicity, orderliness, beauty and variety in Christian Services of worship.

Herein there are alternate Orders of Worship, and an ample selection of aids to worship, such as Calls to Worship, Invocations, Calls to Giving, Prayers of Dedication, and Benedictions.

In the experience of every Church there are occasions which occur infrequently.  Orders of Service are suggested for each epic day, such as Ground-breaking, Dedication of a sanctuary or of memorial gifts, and for the recognition or dedication of deacons, teachers, officers, musicians or a Christian home.

Congregational Usage includes both polity and procedures.  These encompass a Church's Covenant Service; the call of a minsiter by a Church, licensing and ordaining procedures and services; installation, commissioning, and the preparations therefor.  (excerpted from the Preface)
